Adobe Lens Correction Profile for FujiFilm HS20EXR (v1.0)

With some hard work I managed to create an Adobe Lens Correction Profile for FujiFilm HS20EXR. This is version 1.0 and it affects only to geometric distortion from focal length of 24 mm to 700.0 mm (by 10 stops). I also included vignetting and chromatic aberration corrections to the profile. Calibration is done with F/Stop 5.6 and it doesn’t include any other F/Stops. The profile is combined from 90 different calibration shots.

You can download the lens profile from here:
Adobe Lens Correction Profile For FujiFilm HS20EXR v1.0

I have spent hours to create this profile (including the study of “adobe lens profile creator”) and I would appreciate if you could write/leave a small comment – it doesn’t have to be any special 🙂

The lens correction profile includes following focal lengths:

4.2 mm (~ 24 mm)
6.0 mm (~ 35 mm)
8.0 mm (~ 50 mm)
13.8 mm (~ 80 mm)
18.1 mm (~ 105 mm)
22.1 mm (~ 135 mm)
31.5 mm (~ 200 mm)
43.1 mm (~ 300 mm)
80.8 mm (~ 500 mm)
126.0 mm (~ 700 mm)

Remember that you can adjust the lens correction amounts via “Correction Amount sliders“. You can also save your modified settings as “New Lens Profile Defaults” for further times.

Remember to use “Correction Amount” sliders

And the same goes with the Adobe Lightroom

Lightroom “Amount” Sliders

If you want that Adobe Camera Raw applies the lens profile correction automatically, you just have to save your modified settings as “New Camera Raw Defaults”.

Save your settings as “Camera Raw Defaults”

Here is two sample captures without and with the lens profile (F/Stop 3.6):

RAF With Lens Profile

P.S. if you don’t like the lens profile, you don’t have to use it. There’s always the SilkyPix which came with the HS20EXR =^.^=

  1. Thank you very much for this! I so wish I had the time to do what you have done here. It is very much appreciated 😀

  2. Thanks for doing the work Fujifilm can’t be bothered to do for their own customers.

  3. Thank you. This surely clears up the numbers for me…great work!

  4. Well, Thank you very much for this.
    Great work mate.

  5. Thank you very much, Amer, for your great effort with this HS20EXR profile!

  6. Thanks alot. You have done all of us great service.

  7. You should submit it to Adobe using Adobe Lens Profile Creator.

  8. Many thanks for this.

    Cheers

    Derek

  9. Great to find this HARD work already done for us. It’s good to be able to do the right thing in Camera Raw with my wife’s HS20. She is a very happy bunny. Many thanks.

  10. Your work is what I need…I recently buyed a Fujifilm HS20 EXR and well, never has such a lens in my life :(.
I have only CS3 and Adobe camera Raw is inside ; I was not able to find the place where correction profiles are supposed to be on my version. And as my system is snow Leopard, I guess the format is not the same, may be only the data can be used.
    Thank you anyway.

    • I’m not familiar with MacOS 😦 Adobe’s lens profile creator offered only one output format and it was for Win platform.

  11. Big thank’s from all Russian HS20 community 🙂

  12. will this work on the HS30EXR, well done and thanks for your hard work

  13. Thanks for this. I had just recently noticed the amount of work the camera does to remove the quite severe barrel and pin cushion distortion from the jpegs in the HS20 and was considering not using raw because of the work needed. I have installed it in Lightroom 4.1 and it works really well.

  14. Great stuff, can go back to shooting RAW again 🙂
    Thanks!

  15. Hello Carniska,

This sounds like a great solution but do you know if it is possible to use this in Photoshop Elements 10? I can’t find the options shown in your screenshots.

    Thanks!

  16. Fine. Many, many thanks to you. I searched up and down the net to found this.

  17. Thanks for doing this. I can’t believe that Fuji couldn’t be bothered to supply one.

  18. Thank you so much, works perfectly!

  19. Will be trying this with an HS30EXR on a Mac. FYI, the directory on Mac appears to be: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Fujifilm

    • and how do you install this just with copy/paste
both in camera raw and lightroom?

      • Sorry, Jan, I am a total newbie with LR and ACR, and have not been able to get LR 4 on Mac to recognize the lens profile. Until I figure it out, I defer to the more experienced users. Any help?

  20. Thank you for your previous effort in this profile and for keeping this page alive. Worked okay on long zoom but my eyes are sore and I think you’ve proved already in the above examples that you knew what you were doing.

  21. I downloaded the RAR file, but after extraction instead of .lcp file i got a short DOS operation in black window. after that the PC became unstable. Anybody knows what happen ? the original file was replaced for a trojan ? Thank you for help

  22. Thank you for doing this, the difference was noticeable. Why did fuji not do this?

  23. Thank you very much. 🙂

  24. thank you for this profile ! 🙂
